Colón Horseback Riding is more than a horseback riding company. It is part of our family, our heritage, and our connection to Vieques.

For more than 13 years, the Colón family has been sharing the island on horseback, building an experience rooted in local knowledge, horsemanship, hard work, and a deep respect for our horses and our land.

What began with a family passion for horses became a way of sharing Vieques with visitors from around the world. Our guides know these trails not only from years of riding them, but from growing up surrounded by the island’s equestrian culture and traditions.

 

Our Journey

Our story is closely connected to the history of horses in Vieques. Through generations, our family has developed a relationship with horses that goes beyond riding. It is about caring for them, understanding them, training them, and respecting their nature.

Today, that tradition continues at Hacienda Colón, where our family works every day to create authentic horseback experiences while keeping our local roots at the heart of what we do.

We are proud to be pioneers of horseback riding experiences in Vieques and to have helped create unique ways for visitors to experience the island from the saddle.

Our connection with the land and animals also extends to Los Granjeritos de Vieques, a family project created to introduce children to farm life, horses, animals, nature, and the value of hard work.

Through Los Granjeritos, we share knowledge and traditions with the next generation, teaching children to care for animals, appreciate nature, and understand where many of the traditions that make our island unique come from.
